New York Times and YouTube

I noticed today as I was reading my feeds that the New York Times has a YouTube video with an article. Kind of strange. Usually they have their videos on their own pages with a flash player. I am not sure why they used YouTube this time. I wonder if this will become a trend as traditional media companies try to compete with YouTube, MySpace and the like. If you can't beat them, join 'em.

Nice catch -- it looks like the video in question is a campaign ad, and rather than present it as NYT content in their own player, they decided to just embed the already-uploaded Romney spot from YouTube.

Kinda weird to see it there, though.

The Washington Post has a political TV ad database set up, though I don't see this spot there. And clicking on a video link brings up a WMV. Ugh.
